PROFESSIONAL OBJECTIVES:

 

*Objective 1: To become a more skilled, confident and articulate media producer*

Activities/ Resources:

  1. Read through old press releases, blogs and podcasts written by Save the Bay staff members

  2. Look at the way other well-known nonprofit organizations run their media sites and translate those tools into my own work

  3. Discuss ways to continue to improve my writing with my internship advisor. Have her edit my pieces and communicate the changes being made.

Evidence:

  1. Include in my portfolio several press releases, blogs and podcasts that I have produced for Save the Bay.

 

 

*Objective 2: To familiarize myself with, and become more confident with understanding the ins and outs of a non-profit works and how they run their organization*

Activities/Resources:

  1. Sit in on communications and marketing meetings with fellow staff members

  2. Review what a marketing plan is and how that might differ between for-profit and non-profit organizations

  3. Ask my internship advisor for help if I ever have questions

Evidence:

  1. Include in my portfolio my own developed marketing plan for Save the Bay.

 

 

 

INTERNSHIP DETAILS:

 

Duties include: Researching facts about the Narragansett Bay to help create Fun Fact Friday facts for twitter and Instagram pages. Create monthly press releases about upcoming community events. Write three critter blogs about animals at Save the Bay’s Exploration Center in Newport, RI. Help, assist and eventually produce my own monthly podcast highlighting the organizations latest happenings. Calendar our company’s events on local community calendars during free time. Help develop marketing plan and organize big art show fundraising event

Internship Evaluation Methods: Recap weekly on how my work went the previous week, how we can fix/edit my pieces to create more professional and accurate reports.

Along with completion of University evaluation forms.

Work Schedule:

Office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays:

Mondays: 9:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.

Wednesdays: 9:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
